Is There an Age Limit for Dental Implants?

Published 22 April 2026

Quick Answer

There is no strict upper age limit for dental implants. Suitability for All-On-4 Plus® treatment is usually based more on bone quality, healing capacity, overall health and individual clinical assessment than age alone.

Overview

Many people assume dental implants are only suitable for younger patients, but age alone does not automatically prevent someone from receiving implant treatment.

At All-On-4 Plus®, our clinicians assess factors such as bone quality, gum health, medical history, healing ability and overall systemic health, rather than focusing solely on biological age. Some older patients may still be suitable candidates if their oral and general health support treatment planning, we have treated patients from 20-85 years old! It just depends on your current dental situation and health.

The All-On-4 Plus® system was developed to help restore full-arch function with fewer implants and carefully planned implant positioning. The treatment approach combines digital planning, implant surgery, prosthetic design and coordinated workflows designed to support long-term stability and function.

Patients undergo a detailed assessment before treatment, which may include x-rays and digital scans, review of medical conditions, medications, bone structure and daily habits such as smoking. These factors are able to affect both the healing and long-term implant stability.

In younger patients, clinicians may also need to confirm that jaw growth is complete before implant treatment proceeds.

Every case is different. The most suitable way to determine eligibility is through an assessment through a consultation with an All-On-4 Plus® clinician at one of our All On 4 Plus® Premium Provider.
