Dr Barry Patel graduated from Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand in 1979. He immediately flew over to Australia begun working before setting up his first clinic in 1982 in the heart of Kew. In the 1995 he established his second clinic in Brunswick West, before graduaing from the world renown Pankey Institute for advanced Dental Education. The clinics in Kew and Brunswick went onto be well known both amongst dental colleagues and patients as The Dental Emergency Clinic that serviced patients 24 hours, 365 days a year. Having a strong work ethic and moral responsibility to both the patients and his colleagues many practices over the weekends, public holidays and Christmas would strongly refer their patients to Barry knowing his dental skills and ethics whilst they were closed.
Dr Barry Patel received his masters in implantology from Temple University, Michigan, USA taught by one of the earliest pioneers of Implantology, Dr Carl Misch. Barry has been trained by other big names in USA, Michael Pikos (oral surgeon) and is an Alumni of the Pikos Institute, and Pat Allen (periodontist) in both advanced oral surgery and soft tissue grafting procedures. In recognition of his training and level of expertise Barry has been recognised by the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantology) as a FELLOW and by the International Academy of Dental Implants (IADI) as a DIPLOMATE of Implantology.
