Overview
All-On-4 Plus® treatment requires ongoing care after the initial healing period. While the teeth are fixed in place, they still need daily cleaning and regular professional maintenance.
Daily hygiene helps keep the bridge and surrounding gum areas clean. Patients are advised to brush twice a day with a standard toothbrush and toothpaste. If you have remaining natural teeth, your clinician may recommend a soft-bristle toothbrush. Do not use an electric toothbrush.
Routine clinical check-ups are also an important part of long-term maintenance. Professional cleaning is usually recommended every four-six months along with periodic X-ray monitoring when required. These appointments help your clinician monitor your implants and supporting structures over time.
For some patients, teeth grinding or clenching can place additional pressure on the prosthetic teeth. A custom night guard or anti-clenching injections may be recommended to help protect the teeth from excessive wear and when you are unaware of teeth grinding at night.
Every patient is different. Your All-On-4 Plus® clinician will recommend a maintenance plan based on your oral health, risk factors and long-term treatment needs.
Common questions
Yes. Daily cleaning is essential for maintaining All-On-4 Plus® teeth. Just like when you have natural teeth, food can get stuck and build up in our teeth when we eat. The same thing happens with your Immediate Final Teeth, however it get's stuck in the gap between your natural gums and prosthesis. Brushing twice a day with a standard toothbrush and toothpaste is the best way to keep your Immediate Final Teeth clean but you will also need to floss in that gap with x-floss to ensure that you remove any remaining food. You can use a waterflosser if you DO NOT have zygoma implants. Do not use an electric toothbrush. If you don't clean properly, you risk developing infection and implant failure.
Yes they are, four to six-monthly professional cleans and periodic X-ray monitoring are important parts of long-term implant maintenance. These appointments allow your clinician to assess your implants and supporting structures over time. These cleans are important as they are more in depth than your regular cleaning at home, and help to cleans sections you may have missed. These check-ups also help us to determine if there are any problems developing so they can be addressed before becoming bigger problems.
Bruxism (teeth grinding) can place extra pressure on your Immediate Final Teeth™, especially during sleep. A custom night guard may be recommended to help protect the teeth from excessive wear and reduce the impact of nighttime bite forces. Anti-clenching injections in your jawbone are also an option, these injections help to reduce the biting force in your jaw. Seek medical advice from our team if you have bruxism concerns.
Daily cleaning is an important part of caring for All-On-4 Plus® fixed bridges. Patients are advised to brush twice daily with a standard toothbrush and toothpaste. If you still have remaining natural teeth, a soft-bristle toothbrush may also be recommended. Electric toothbrushes should not be used. Cleaning underneath the bridge and around the implants every day also helps reduce the risk of inflammation and implant-related complications.
Routine clinical check-ups are an important part of long-term All-On-4 Plus® care. Six-monthly professional cleans and periodic X-ray monitoring help your clinician assess the health of your implants and supporting structures over time.
Bruxism is the habit of clenching or grinding your teeth, often while you sleep. Over time, these repeated forces can put extra pressure on All-On-4 Plus® implants and prosthetic teeth. To help protect the bridge from excessive wear and reduce pressure on the implants during sleep, custom night guards or anti-clenching injections are commonly recommended.
