The Healing Timeline: The First 14 Days
The first 14 days after All-On-4 Plus® surgery are usually focused on rest, swelling control, soft foods, gentle cleaning and protecting the surgical area. Swelling and bruising are common in the first few days, then usually begin to settle as the gums start healing.
Post-Surgery Dietary Guidelines
After All-On-4 Plus® surgery, following a modified soft-food diet is important while the implants integrate with the jawbone. Softer foods help reduce pressure on the implants and new teeth during the early healing phase.
Managing Discomfort at Home
Some discomfort, swelling and tenderness can be expected after All-On-4 Plus® surgery. Most patients are given post-operative instructions to help manage this at home, including rest, soft foods, gentle cleaning, cold compresses and taking medication only as directed by their clinician.
Healing with a Bone Graft vs. Immediate Loading
Traditional bone grafting can add months to the overall treatment timeline because the grafted bone needs time to heal before implants can be placed. Immediate loading allows suitable patients to receive fixed teeth shortly after implant placement, while healing continues beneath the surface.
Long-Term Maintenance & Care

Daily Hygiene for Fixed Bridges
Daily cleaning is an important part of caring for All-On-4 Plus® fixed bridges. Patients are advised to brush twice daily with a standard toothbrush and toothpaste. If you still have remaining natural teeth, a soft-bristle toothbrush may also be recommended. Electric toothbrushes should not be used. Cleaning underneath the bridge and around the implants every day also helps reduce the risk of inflammation and implant-related complications.
Your Routine Clinical Check-Ups
Routine clinical check-ups are an important part of long-term All-On-4 Plus® care. Six-monthly professional cleans and periodic X-ray monitoring help your clinician assess the health of your implants and supporting structures over time.
Managing Bruxism (Teeth Grinding)
Bruxism is the habit of clenching or grinding your teeth, often while you sleep. Over time, these repeated forces can put extra pressure on All-On-4 Plus® implants and prosthetic teeth. To help protect the bridge from excessive wear and reduce pressure on the implants during sleep, custom night guards are commonly recommended.
