Overview
Surgery day is an important step in the All-On-4 Plus® process. The procedure is carefully planned to support comfort, stability, healing and long-term function from the very beginning.
Patients will undergo a general anaesthetic, which means that you are asleep during the surgery.
In many cases, patients receive their Immediate Final Teeth™ within 1-7 days after surgery, allowing them to leave with a functional smile while healing occurs beneath the surface.
Recovery continues over the following months as the implants gradually integrate with the jawbone through a biological healing process called osseointegration, which takes about 4 months.
The sections below explain the key stages involved in surgery day, healing and the transition from temporary to permanent teeth.
Sleep Dentistry Options
Sleep dentistry helps keep patients comfortable during All-On-4 Plus® surgery by using general anaesthesia. This allows patients to remain asleep throughout the procedure while being closely monitored by a qualified anaesthetist.
Healing and Recovery
After All-On-4 Plus® surgery, the implants require time to heal and integrate with the jawbone. During this biological healing process, the bone gradually bonds to the implants, creating a stable foundation for long-term function and support. Patients can usually start to eat hard and solid foods 4 months after surgery as the osseointegration process has usually completed.
From Temporary to Permanent
Once patients have had their surgery, they will receive temporary teeth 3-4 hours later and go home with them for the night. When patients return 24 hours later, they will switch from the temporary teeth to the Immediate Final Teeth ( insert of final teeth can be anywhere from 1 - 7 days post surgery, but usually 24 hours).
Sleep dentistry for All-On-4 Plus® involves using sedation or general anaesthesia to keep you comfortable and pain-free during surgery. In most cases, treatment is performed under general anaesthesia, meaning you are fully asleep throughout the procedure.
The biological healing process is the period where your gums and jawbone heal around the implants after All-On-4 Plus® surgery. During this time, the implants gradually integrate with the bone, creating a stable and long-term foundation for your new teeth.
A key part of the All-On-4 Plus® process is the transition from an immediate fixed bridge to a final permanent restoration.
Unlike traditional approaches that may involve removable dentures during healing, All-On-4 Plus® is designed to provide fixed teeth shortly after implant surgery.
