Overview
A key part of the All-On-4 Plus® process is the quick transition from having temporary teeth to your Immediate Final Teeth.
Unlike other approaches which may involve wearing a temporary restoration for months after surgery; All On 4 Plus® treatment uses specific techniques and technologies to allow patients to wear temporary teeth immediately after their final prosthesis is being made overnight. The patient will then return back to the clinic within 1- 7 days of their surgery to go home with their Immediate Final Teeth™. This is made possible by advanced digital planning, strategic implant angling and an immediate loading protocol- meaning that the implants are loaded within a period of 7 days after surgery.
Once full healing and osseointegration is complete ( usually 4 months after surgery) if a patient needs a stronger prosthesis ( such as zirconia) then that can be changed over.
FAQ
Read common frequently asked questions regarding the transition between the immediate fixed bridge to a final permanent restoration.
No, patients will wear temporary teeth for a minimum of 24 hours while their Immediate Final Teeth are being created. They will then get to wear their final prosthesis usually 24 hours after surgery, but can sometimes take up to 7 days ( depending on the material used etc). ( The entire healing process is 4 months from surgery).
Immediate Final Teeth™ will be fitted within 1 - 7 days after surgery.
Temporary teeth are made out of a plastic material which are inserted 3-4 hours after your surgery and you will usually wear them for 24 hours while your Immediate Final Teeth are being created. They are usually a white colour, a bit bulkier and have no teeth definition or gum colour.
Immediate Final Teeth™ are made out of either acrylic, PMMA or zirconia and are a lot smoother and less bulky than the temporary teeth. Each tooth is defined and in the shade that you have chosen and have a pink gum colour, making them look highly realistic and natural.
The healing period of 4 months ( osseointegration) is extremely important as during this time, the implants are fusing to the jawbone. The implants will then essentially become 'one' with the jawbone and placing any excessive force on it could cause them to fail or become infected. This healing time is vital for the long-term success of your implants.
Patients are advised to follow a strict soft diet, meaning that you shouldn't eat anything hard that requires excessive chewing such as nuts, crusty bread, pork crackling, steak etc. Foods such as pasta, soft fish, stir fry, yoghurt, soup and rice are all good options. A good rule to follow is that if you can cut it with a fork, it's usually fine to eat.
Permanent restorations are made out of materials such as Acrylic, PMMA, Zirconia and Graphene. The best material for you will be discussed in your pre-op with your dentist.
